چکیده

In this paper we conduct laboratory experiments to test the Crawford and Sobel [Crawford, V., Sobel, J., 1982. Strategic information transmission. Econometrica 50, 1431–1451] theory of strategic information transmission. Our experimental results strongly support the basic insight of the theory, namely, that less information is transmitted when preferences of the sender and the receiver diverge. Moreover, the average payoffs for the senders, the receivers, and the overall subject population are very close to those predicted by the most informative equilibrium. However, the evidence shows that subjects consistently overcommunicate in that the senders’ messages are more informative about the true states of the world and that the receivers rely more on the senders’ messages in choosing actions, compared with what the theory allows in the most informative equilibrium. To understand the overcommunication phenomenon, we use two popular approaches of bounded rationality: behavior type analysis and quantal response equilibrium, to analyze subjects’ behavior in our experiment data. © 2005 Elsevier Inc. An experimental study of truth-telling in a sender-receiver game

A recent experimental study of Cai and Wang [5] on strategic information transmission games reveals that subjects tend to transmit more information than predicted by the standard equilibrium analysis. To evidence that this overcommunication phenomenon can be explained in some situations in terms of a tension between normative social behavior and incentives for lying, we show that in a simple se...

An Experimental Study of Truth - Telling in a Sender - Receiver Game ∗ 5 September 2006

A recent experimental study of Cai and Wang (2005) on strategic information transmission reveals that subjects tend to transmit more information than predicted by the standard equilibrium analysis. Dynamic system of strategic games

Maybe an event can't be modeled completely through one game but there is more chance with several games. With emphasis on players' rationality, we present new properties of strategic games, which result in production of other games. Here, a new attitude to modeling will be presented in game theory as dynamic system of strategic games and its some applications such as analysis of the clash betwe...

Dynamic strategic information transmission

This paper studies strategic information transmission in a dynamic environment, where a privately informed expert and a decision maker interact for a …nite number of periods. Our theoretical results argue that the dynamic cheap talk games are fundamentally di¤erent from static ones. First, information can be fully revealed. Second, there exist non monotonic equilibria. Third, there is no genera...

A review on symmetric games: theory, comparison and applications

Game theory models decision makers' behaviors in strategic situations. Since the structures of games are different, behavior and preferences of the players are different in various types of game. This paper reviews various situations of games. Here, characteristics of some common games are discussed and compared. Specifically, we focus on a group of games called symmetric games including Prison...
